The Lost Girls has been awarded the 2017 Strand Critics Award for Best Debut Novel. The Strand Awards, sponsored by the Strand Magazine, honor excellence in mystery writing and are judged by a select group of book critics from The Washington Post, NPR, Time magazine, The LA Times, The Boston Globe, and The Toronto Star. The Critics Award for Best Novel went to one of my writing idols, Tana French, for The Trespassers, and I also got to meet the great Clive Cussler, who was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

I am thrilled to announce that The Lost Girls has been nominated for an Edgar Award for Best First Novel. I am honored to share this nomination with five writers I greatly admire: Flynn Berry, Bill Beverly, Joe Ide, Nicholas Petrie, and Lili Wright. The winner will be announced April 27 at the 71st annual Edgar Allen Poe Gala. [Edited to add: congratulations to Flynn Berry, whose fantastic novel Under the Harrow should be in your reading list, if it isn’t already!)
